Carbon Reporting – Our Road to Net Zero

At Hatton Traffic Management Ltd, we’re committed to leading the traffic management industry in environmental responsibility. Our Net Zero strategy outlines how we’re reducing carbon emissions, adopting sustainable technologies, and working with our partners to deliver greener, smarter solutions.

We’ve pledged to achieve Net Zero carbon emissions by 2035, well ahead of the UK’s national target. To reach this, we are:

– Cutting emissions by at least 25% year-on-year
– Electrifying our fleet
– Improving depot energy efficiency
– Offsetting what we can’t yet reduce

Our roadmap is updated annually and measured using the UK Government’s GHG methodology.

What We've Achieved So Far

We measure carbon output using the GHG Protocol:

Scope 1 – Direct emissions (fuel use, fleet, gas)
Scope 2 – Electricity use
Scope 3 – Indirect impacts (travel, supply chain, waste)

Scope 3 is often the largest, and we actively collaborate with suppliers to reduce it. We’ve also upgraded our reporting to include 100% of supplier spend using GHG multipliers.

What we can’t yet reduce, we offset through verified schemes with CarbonFootprint.com:

– 🌿 Reforestation in China
– ☀️ Solar power in India
– 🍲 Efficient cookstoves in Malawi

We also:
– Offset 1 tonne of CO₂ for every 5 near misses reported
– Offer clients the ability to offset CO₂ tied to their specific projects

How We Measure Success

Each year, Hatton’s carbon roadmap is reviewed and version-controlled. We track Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions in line with DEFRA conversion factors and GHG Protocol guidelines. Our progress is transparent, auditable, and aligned with verified environmental standards.
